Your Guide to Summer Concerts in NYC

Summer concerts in NYC

This year, there is a great choice of summer concerts in NYC with something to suit every taste and all ages. At Delux, our luxury car service will get you there on time in safety and style. Summer is when NYC explodes into life. It’s peak tourist season, but it is also when native New Yorkers want to spend time outside and maximize the NYC summer experience. Let’s take a look and perhaps use this as a guide for what’s going on around the city.

SummerStage Central Park

SummerStage has become an NYC institution, and has recently announced the 2025 lineup. The organization will be hosting free events at dozens of parks across the city, but the centerpiece is always SummerStage Central Park, the scene of the first ever SummerStage event in 1986.

Jazz legend Marcus Miller will be headlining the opening show on June 4. Other highlights include The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital featuring pianist Howard Watkins on June 16, calypso band Kes on July 5 and Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues on August 27.

Rediscover the 80s at The Rooftop summer concerts in NYC

Arguably the most scenic venue for summer concerts in NYC, The Rooftop at Pier 17 has undergone its spring transformation. The glass structure used for winter concerts has been removed, and it has returned to its signature open-air format for the summer concert schedule.

The Rooftop always attracts the biggest rock and pop acts. Past performers include Blondie, Billie Eilish, Kings of Leon and Ringo Starr. This year’s lineup is just as impressive and eclectic. It includes Britpop stars The Kooks on June 3 and Canadian rock legends Barenaked Ladies, who will be accompanied by special guests Sugar Ray and Fastball on July 9.

But for those of us who remember it the first time, Lost 80’s Live is arguably The Rooftop’s summer highlight. It will feature some of the biggest hits from the era of shoulder pads and synthesizers performed by the original artists. Our luxury car service can reunite you with Big Country, China Crisis, A Flock of Seagulls and other 80s legends on Saturday August 2.

Olivia Rodrigo at The Governor’s Ball- a traditional part of summer concerts in NYC

It’s been 14 years since the inaugural Governor’s Ball was held on Governor’s Island. Every year since, the event has got bigger, and it has relocated three times to accommodate more acts and a greater attendance. Gov Ball 2025 runs from June 6 to June 8 at Flushing Meadows.

The Governor’s Ball is one of the biggest summer concerts in NYC and it attracts the most famous contemporary acts. Multiple award winner Olivia Rodrigo will headline on the Saturday, and there are more than 60 other big name acts including Conan Gray, Hozier, Tyler the Creator and Benson Boone.

These are some of the most popular music acts among contemporary teenagers. If your children are keen to attend, a luxury car from Delux is a great way to ensure they get there safely and without hassle.

Celebrate Brooklyn with Grace Jones

BRIC! Celebrate Brooklyn! is a series of outdoor summer events that has been welcoming artists from around the world to Prospect Park since the 1970s. The full schedule for 2025 is still being finalized, but they have already confirmed that 80s icon Grace Jones and Grammy nominee Janelle Monáe will appear together on June 9 for a jazz-themed launch.

Other names that have been confirmed so far include fellow 80s legends Dinosaur Jr on July 17 and West Coast indie star Still Woozy on July 12. Keep an eye on the Celebrate Brooklyn website as they continue to add more shows to their schedule of summer concerts in NYC.

More summer concerts in NYC – Classical music and fireworks in the parks

The New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks have been an essential part of the NYC summer experience for the past 60 years. Led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel, each of the concerts is free to attend and will conclude with a stunning firework display.

The 2025 schedule starts on Wednesday June 4 at Central Park, then moves to Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx on Thursday and Prospect Park, Brooklyn on Friday before concluding at Cunningham Park, Queens on Saturday June 7. Each of the concerts starts at 8PM. Our NYC car service will get you there and take you home again in comfort.
